Long black guipure lace jacket - circa 1890
Long black guipure lace jacket – circa 1890
A rare and exceptional piece, this sumptuous long black jacket dates back to the 1890s, a time of textile refinement and richness. Entirely handcrafted, it features superb guipure lace adorned with floral motifs and intricate scrollwork. The open structure hints at a delicate play of transparency, typical of late Victorian ceremonial clothing.
Without a tag, the jacket appears to fit an adult size estimated at 10 years. It fastens at the front with satin ties and is lined in places with a silky black fabric. Although the piece shows some signs of age, it remains remarkably well preserved considering its age.
This jacket is accompanied by an antique black hat, probably from the very early 1900s, decorated with feathers and an elegant net veil. The ensemble evokes Victorian mourning or ceremonial costume.
A real treasure for collectors, museums or enthusiasts of historical fashion.
NOTE: Garments are not cleaned before sale. If you plan to wear them, dry cleaning or delicate washing (depending on the fabric) is recommended.
